The Siracourt Blockhaus

Built 5 km from Saint-Pol-sur-Ternoise, right in the heart of a farming village (which, totally destroyed by the Allied bombers, has been rebuilt in a very original manner), this bunker was designed to store and launch the V1 flying bombs.

The 212 metre long building is clearly visible, but all its doorways have been sealed up.

The Lottinghem Blockhaus

The construction of this blockhaus was swiftly abandoned after very heavy Allied bombing.

The Éperlecques Blockhaus

Built 10 km from Saint-Omer, this bunker was originally designed for the storage and launch of the A4 rockets (V2).

However the site was badly damaged by an American bombing raid on 27th August 1943.

The initial project was abandoned and a new bunker was built on the same site to house a liquid oxygen plant which was to supply the new launch bunker at LA COUPOLE.

The enormous concrete block that can be visited now at Éperlecques is therefore the protective shell of a liquid oxygen plant.
