« Daily life in the occupied Nord–Pad-de-Calais region »

For four long years, the population of these two departments had to live with the enemy. The humiliation and the harshness of the Occupation were compounded by countless material problems. Finding food became the obsession of many inhabitants.

The black market enabled them to top up their meagre rations, but at a heavy price !
The situation was often worsened by the separation of families. One can appreciate the importance of sport, song and cinema, which helped them forget their daily problems for a short time.

A series of five sheets help pupils understand the fate of this population, based on the study of mostly unpublished images.

« War and the rights of Man » (History)

This tour offers a global approach to war that focuses on the infringement of the rights of Man.

After the invasion in May-June 1940, the violence inherent in the Nazi regime was expressed in a series of massacres of civilians and prisoners. The analysis focuses on the case of the Nord and Pas-de-Calais departments, threatened in the long term with being annexed to the German Reich.

During the entire Occupation, from 1940 to 1944, all freedoms were denied and an implacable police repression descended on all those who opposed the Nazi presence. It led to the execution of thousands of human beings (hostages, resistance members, Jews, Gipsies).

A series of five sheets helps show how the Second World War, at its height, negated the rights of individuals, going as far as deliberately programmed mass murder.
